SOUND screened last night in Block #5 to a SOLD OUT audience at Lady Filmmakers at the Wilshire Screening Room in Beverly Hills, CA. The night was more than we imaged.
An incredible screening room! Fabulous Female Filmmakers! And we played to the best audience!
The Moderator asked the filmmakers to share an "unknown fun fact" about their film. Here's a little tea on the filming of SOUND. During the most vulnerable scene in the film, where sounds reach deafening levels, Isabelle has to make a crucial decision that always leaves audiences stunned, gasping & literally clutching their pearls. During the filming of that scene, I used many triggers to emotionally go on the rollercoaster ride the script requires me to go on. It was scary & surreal. This being my most challenging role, as there is no dialogue and no one to play off, the film stretched me as an Actress. And to date, it is my greatest role.
Now, the tea: One of my triggers was listening to Kristen Chenoweth (who I love) in Wicked! And the other, watching Oprah's Legend's Ball. If Ms. Winfrey ever hosts another ball, I pray my contribution to the Arts & world garners me an invitation! :)
SOUND had an amazing screening & festival WIN at Golden Door Film Festival in New Jersey! We took home the trophy for BEST CONCEPT OF A SHORT! We can see why Golden Door Film Festival was named by Movie Maker Magazine as one of the Top 50 Film Festivals worth the entry fee! We are so happy to count Golden Door as our New Jersey premiere; 35th Official Selection; 33rd Nomination; 27th WIN!
Playing Isabelle Pisano in our film SOUND was the most challenging & rewarding character whose skin I've had the opportunity to step into. Exploring her lens of life through the loss of sense, in this case sound, brought a new perspective to understanding how the layer of loss effects the psychology and environmental life of the character. Doubled with producing this film with my husband, Tawan, I grew tremendously as an Actress and Woman. I hope you get a chance to see our film. One critic says "it stays with you." Here's to more films that stay with the audience and those who bring it to life!
Sound is currently on the festival circuit and has garnered...
27 Official Selections | 30 Nominations | 26 WINS...and counting!
A few of my favorite frames...
SOUND receives 4-Stars and is awarded the Film of the Month distinction in the June 2019 edition of TMFF. I'll share my favorite quote from this review & I hope you read the review in it's entirety. It's a good one! Click the button below for the full review!
Thank you TMFF! We are honored.
"Avoiding the conventional epic structure of a short film, Tawan Bazemore accesses the stylistics of a poetic cinema that, by abandoning the word as a supreme means of expression (except for a few seconds, this short film is completely lacking dialogue), plunges inside the twisted mental of the victim who has lost sensory integrity with such overwhelming suggestive force that the spectator merges with the protagonist into an inseparable entity."
Film Threat gives SOUND 7.5 out of 10 stars! And we are here for it. This review digs into the elemental foundation we created playing with sound as the Antagonist that haunts our Protagonist, Isabelle (played by me) throughout the film. It's a deep dive into the shallow end. Exactly, where want to take our audiences. Read my favorite quote from this review! Then click below to read the full review. It's exciting!
Thank You, Film Threat!
"Bazemore employs a few thriller techniques to bring a darker edge to Pisano's "normal." It's a short that will jar your senses and leave you emotionally stunned, which quite frankly is what more short films should do."

A Spin-Off of "Suits" on USA Network, Pearson follows Gina Torres' character, Jessica Pearson as she tackles the world of crime and politics in Chicago. I play Beat Reporter, Crystal Bazemore.
So excited to have worked on this project with such a talented cast & crew. Can't tell deets about the project, shhhh, but this was our "Boston Legal" pic!
Anxiety in the Apocalypse is a dark, heartfelt comedy about a woman who is finally forced to deal with her paralyzing anxiety as the world literally falls apart around her. I am so happy to play Sharon, a true survivor in...make-up.
